About us
Going back to the history of the club, in the year 2008, a group of few enthusiastic Nepalese people from the St. George area initiated a morning soccer session every Sunday entirely for the purpose of physical fitness. With the players’ kits, bags and accessories used as the marking of goal posts and outlines of the field, the numbers of the people gradually started increasing. Within few months, the club had a significant number of soccer enthusiastic turnout. With a small sum of donation from individuals, the club was able to have its own soccer gears and other items needed for the game.
With an idea of bringing family and community together with aim of fitness and social activities, few active members were able to make decision to formally register the club in view of inviting all the St George and surrounds residents and making it an inclusive club for all. In the year 2010, the club was officially registered as St. George Nepalese Club (SGNC).
The first few years from the club inception this club saw steadily growing and binding the caring relationships among seniors and junior members enthusiastically attending soccer field every weekend all-round the year. Besides the games, St. George Nepalese Club organised annual Teej Festival, social BBQ gathering at park, participation on Nepalese Festival among others. Further SGNC has been participating on various soccer competitions (both indoors and outdoors), interstate and local tournametns providing opportunities for members to interact with other teams.
Now the successful and fantastic SGNC has two teams - SGNC young and SGNC Seniors. SGNC does not only believe but also practices harmony, self-respect, unbiased, and collaborative work practices among all of its members.
SGNC also proudly organises the SGNC Children Soccer which was officially launched on 18th April 2015, is up for running enthusiastically for every Saturday between 3 pm and 5 pm. There are currently 16 children between age 9 and 15 receiving training from its own coach.
SGNC has been able to get generous support from our active sponsors and supporters who has been supporting and participating on each activities of the club. Feedback and advice from each members and supporters has been immensely valuable on all decisions.
With mission of making the club inclusive and a common social platform for over thousands of Nepalese families living in and around St George area, SGNC is committed to bring more activities and programs which we believe will inspire us all. SGNC members strongly believe that the club has a great opportunity to contribute on facilitating needs of Nepalese community with sharing environment.
