With this being said currently world is being blessed by the presence of 1.9 billion children which is 27% of world population. Throughout history, there have been numerous events and issues that have caused chaos, affecting children’s growth and development both directly and indirectly. To prevent and deal with such situations, the United Nations declared and began working for the rights of the child, and the 20th November has been marked and celebrated as World Children’s Day since 1945.
World Children’s Day promotes international cooperation, awareness among children all over the world, and a desire to improve children’s well-being. Many organizations and independent entities have worked and continue to work for the welfare and development of children all over the world. And, as we all know, children are the most vulnerable group suffering in the current scenario of the world affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has clearly demonstrated how ignorance affects the rights of all children.
Climate change, racism, urbanization, industrialization, commercialization, and even some development projects have all had an impact on the welfare and development of children around the world. Their rights to an education, health, and mental health, and sometime even their right to exist, have frequently been ignored and violated. Every day, statements like “Children are our future” are made, programs and campaigns for children are held frequently, and promises for children’s welfare and development are made on a regular basis, yet children are ignored and deprived of their basic rights.
As the world recovers from the pandemic, it is more important than ever to hear their concerns, ideas, and demands. Let us all make a single effort or take a single step forward this World Children’s Day to listen to what our children are saying. When they want to be heard, let us lend them our ears. Let us lend them a helping hand when they need it. Let us provide them with a safe haven where they can grow without being hindered by the obstacles that we adults have created for our own selfish and foolish reasons. Let us all do at least one thing for our children’s welfare because, as the saying goes, “they are our future.” Even a single and minor effort on our part counts and matters.
We are all born with the instinct and sense of being protective of our children. And it’s a high time to be protective towards our children.
Happy World Children’s Day…!!!
