Change is unavoidable, so it will happen sooner or later. Women today are living proof of a change that began more than a century ago. All of the struggles and biases were and are real, so are all of the successes and achievements. In order to honour the women, their struggles and their accomplishments around the world, International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year.
This day serves as a reminder to everyone around the world that women play important roles in all aspects of society, including education, politics, research and development, and business. It is a day to remember and reflect on women-their past and present, as well as all other issues affecting women’s equality.
Gender bias and a lack of empowerment in women are two of the most important and unavoidable factors that have a direct impact on the entire female population. The social structure and mindset we grew up with, which taught us the difference between a man and a woman, are at the root of this problem. The most important thing we need to change or teach our next generation is the ability to see both genders as human beings. If we can spread this awareness and empower our women in the same way that we empower men, it won’t be long before inequality and gender bias are things of the past.
We are all aware that without the healthy existence of women, there will be no future. When it comes to empowering our women and giving them the place they deserve, it should not be a point of contention or disagreement. The term “empowerment” refers to the delegation of authority or power to do something. And empowering women entails creating a situation and authority in which women can make decisions on their own.
We’ve all heard and believe the statement from Queen Rania of Jordan that states “if you educate a woman, you educate a family.” And an educated woman is an empowered woman, emphasizing the importance of educating and empowering women for a sustainable future. When it comes to gender equality and empowerment, no other options or logic should be considered.
When equality and empowerment issues are raised, it is not about competition between men and women. It’s about figuring out what we’ve been doing wrong and how to fix it so that we can have a better future. It is our responsibility to our future generation to build a social structure in which gender inequality does not exist.
We have worked tirelessly to eliminate gender inequality and have achieved many victories. We’re going through all of the major issues that needed to be addressed one by one. And, yes, take it one step at a time. This International Women’s Day, let us be aware of the bias that exists and spread awareness about how we can break it.
